A teacher has gone to court claiming that the late Kenyan Internal Security Minister George Saitoti’s son Zachary Musengi is his.

A Nakuru teacher has gone to court claiming that the late Internal Security Minister George Saitoti’s son Zachary Musengi is his. Sebastian Maina Ngunju alleges Saitoti’s only son Zachary is his child Stephen Wachira who was abducted over 24 years ago at their home in Subukia.
Mr Ngunju, who is seeking orders to institute private prosecution against the late minister’s widow, said he reported the abduction to the area police.
In an affidavit filed before the Nakuru Law Court, Ngunju said after establishing Musengi is his son, he has been unable to pursue the matter after receiving threats.
He states that he confirmed his suspicion after spotting “his son” on live television during the late minister’s burial.
The man claims after reporting the loss of his son, a suspect who was his neighbour was arrested and confessed she had been contacted by a police officer to get him a child.
“The woman was charged after the intervention of then CID Director Noah Arap Too. It’s during the investigations that I learnt the whereabouts of my son from CID officers who were involved in the matter,” he states.
In the affidavit filed through Lawyer Hari Gakinya, the man says all the witnesses apart from one have since died.
He said that during the hearing of the abduction case, one of the investigating officers told him that his son was taken by the then Vice-President Prof George Saitoti.
Ngunju once tried working as a mason in the late Saitoti’s home with the hope of seeing his son but he was unsuccessful. He said that upon the death of Saitoti, he saw his son sitting next to the minister’s wife and being described as the minister’s only son.
“To my surprise it was him. He resembles my children and without any doubt I recognised him,” he added.
Ngunju said he had contacted Catholic Church head John Cardinal Njue to broker a meeting between him, Saitoti’s wife and his son but has not been successful.
He also says his advocate has written to the representative of the estate of the late minister to find a direct contact with his wife.

In the application before Nakuru Principal Magistrate Njuguna Mwaniki, Ngunju said his previous suit on the incident was terminated abruptly after he was threatened.
The man who says he has five children, including two girls, adds he has brought up the four after his third born son was abducted 21 days before his third birthday. He has attached a certificate of birth for one Stephen Wachira who according to the record was born on September 21, 1985.

Also attached is a bond for him to appear before court to give evidence against one Mary Wambui in case where she had been accused of stealing a child in 1990. The family says they can take care of him as his “siblings’’ have been educated up to university level.
